About MAPT
MAPT helps Mississippi’s school transportation leaders improve safety, compliance, training, and professional development.
Who we are
The Mississippi Association of Pupil Transportation is an association of transportation professionals dedicated solely to the safe transportation of school children in Mississippi. Since its inception, the association has grown and become an intricate part of school transportation in our state.
MAPT is representative of every aspect of school transportation, from the Mississippi Department of Education to the local mechanics in the school district. Officers and members are working professionals — directors, supervisors, technicians and drivers — from districts across the state, along with contractors and MDE staff.
What MAPT does
Professional development
The annual conference and trade show brings directors, technicians and drivers together for training sessions and hands-on instruction.
Skills & competition
The School Bus Road-E-O tests driving skill and knowledge across a full course of events, with free training sessions alongside it.
Compliance & resources
State laws, certification requirements, purchasing forms and safety documents, gathered in one place so districts do not have to hunt for them.
Mentorship
Any board member will take a question from a member district. Ask a director for direction on a problem you are working through.
Our history
Serving Mississippi districts since the early 1990s.
MAPT was formed by Mississippi transportation professionals who wanted a shared place to solve the same problems — safety, compliance, training and the practical work of moving students every day.
The association has met every year since, and the conference and Road-E-O both reach their 36th year in 2027.
